There’s a service called RTGS in Citibank. If you have a Suvidha account and you use the online facility, chances are, you must have seen it on your screen. Now, here’s an example that borders on stupidity. The Citibank website says:

RTGS transfers allowed only for amounts between Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 2,00,000
Please do not include spaces or characters. For example, Rs.7,800.00 should be entered as 7800.00

Did you say ‘So, what’s wrong with that example?’ Hmm?

  1. No Anindita, Suman is not pointing out that. Actually citibank’s terms says that, RTGS transfers allowed only for amounts between Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 2,00,000. But the example they given is lesser than 1,00,000(Rs.7800). Am I right Suman?

  2. Actually, I thought he talking about the missing zeros in the range-numbers, i.e., 2,00,000 instead of 2,000,000. And also, aren’t numbers also a form of character?

  3. Banks like everyone else make mistakes, they will spend a fortune on physical building protection but online safety is the customers concern, the says that the range is from 1,000,000 down to 2,00,000 (the , after the 2 is unnecessary) but the example is out of this range, they omit the 0.00 point sign in the range but add it in the example, they have not thought this through just posted the amounts.
